Clan Gatherings & Family Reunions

Co. Sligo Heritage and Genealogy Society are involved in the organization and facilitation of Clan Gatherings & Family Reunions. These increasingly popular events mainly involve social outings, cultural tours to historical sites and lectures.

O’Gara Clan Rally 2003

The O’Gara Clan Rally which was held in 2003, was a partnership event co-organised by County Sligo Heritage & Genealogy Society and the O’Gara Clan committee.

It proved to be a hugely successful and highly enjoyable weekend taking place at various venues in South County Sligo in early October 2003. The participants hailing from different parts of Ireland, England and the United States all contributed to make it a very happy occasion.

The programme of events included:

• A guided tour of Moygara Castle
• A sight seeing tour of ‘O’Gara country
• A golf tournament
• A tree planting ceremony
• A Clan Banquet
• A series of O’Gara Autumn school lectures
• A song and dance workshop
• Tracing your Ancestral Roots workshop

These varied options ensured that all who attended the event were happily entertained. The weekend will be fondly remembered by all who attended for a long time to come.
