Welcome

County Sligo Heritage & Genealogy Centre was established in 1988 to deal with enquiries from people who wished to trace their Co. Sligo ancestry. We are the officially designated genealogical research service for County Sligo and are part of the Irish Family History Foundation’s network of Centres throughout Ireland. There are currently three full time and five part-time staff members employed in the Centre, which is located in the Fáilte Ireland building in Temple Street, Sligo.

Since our foundation, we have been collecting, indexing and computerising all the major sources for family history research available in Co. Sligo. Our computer database has now over half a million records.

The main sources we use in the course of Genealogical Research are:

Our experienced researchers are specially trained in genealogical research techniques. Their knowledge of the County and its sources in great detail mean that “no stone will be left unturned” in the course of attempting to discover your ancestral lineage.
