The County Sligo Heritage and Genealogy centre
offers a comprehensive genealogical service to people tracing their
County Sligo roots from all over the world. The centre has over
15 years experience in carrying out ancestral research and has enabled
countless people to discover their family lineage. We are based
in the North West Tourism complex in Sligo town.
The centre offers an extensive range of services and products to
both individuals and special interest groups. Our Portfolio includes

Family History Reports
The centre specialises in the production of individually researched
comprehensive family history reports. These reports are attractively
presented as hardbound volumes and consist of all existing genealogical
records relating to your Sligo ancestral lineage, from the earliest
ancestor found on record to the early years of the 20th century.
You will discover in these specially commissioned reports, who your
ancestors were, the history of the locality they came from and something
of their lifestyle. Facsimilies of relevant genealogical documents
will be incorporated with maps which will often lead you to the
location of your former ancestors home.

on the link below.
Single Record Search
The Centre also provides a record search facility for experienced
researchers who are seeking specific genealogical records only.
Location Search
A location search endeavours to identify the Parish or townland,
where your ancestors came from, thereby enabling you to visit the
place they once resided. As part of the location search, you are
provided with a map of the area outlining the area relevant to your
search and a certificate stating that your ancestors once resided
in this area.

Personal Consultation
If you are visiting the centre and need some assistance with your
own research, then a personal consultation with an experienced researcher
can be arranged in advance. The researcher will assist you with
all the professional advice they can, from their experience dealing
with family history research.
Same Day Research Facility
For persons visiting the area with a limited time available, and
who wish to have research carried out, we offer a 'Same Day Search
Facility'. Persons wishing to avail of this service must bring all
their family information with them on visiting the centre.
Contact the centre for more details.
Clan Gatherings, Family Reunions, School Reunions
& Summer/Autumn schools
Sligo Heritage and Genealogy Centre are now involved in the organising
of and facilitation of Clan Gatherings, Family Reunions and School
Reunions. These events involve social outings, cultural tours to
historical sites, lectures and ancestral trails.
We also have plans to become involved in Summer/Autumn Schools with
a Genealogy theme if sufficient numbers express an interest. Apart
from the genealogical, cultural and educational content of the School
we hope to include social events such as golfing, fishing, walking,
traditional Irish music and dancing.
For more information visit our Clan
Gatherings page or contact the centre directly.
Local History & Heritage Publications
The Centre is also involved in the publication of items of local
history and heritage. We recently published a reprint of 'A
Topographical Dictionary of Sligo' (!837) , by Samuel Lewis.
The title of our edition is 'County Sligo in 1837'
and is available for purchase in local bookshops or by contacting
the centre directly.
Books on Local Sligo History and Heritage
We have selected quality books that provide fascinating and factual
accounts of significant personalities and events in the history
of County Sligo over the last 300 years. We also stock various titles
relating to County Leitrim and the province of Connaught.
These books will be of immense interest to those who wish to find
out more about this beautiful County and its history.

Family Crests
The Family Crests are Irish made and are skilfully hand painted
on copper by our team of professional heraldic artists. They are
then mounted on a mahogany base with a choice of sizes. Enclosed
with each wall plaque is a certificate of authenticity, giving details
of the arms, crest, motto and reference source.
They are very popular as wedding and anniversary gifts, heirlooms
for grandchildren, a presentation piece to a colleague or simply
that little something you've always wanted.
The following items are on offer:
- Heraldic Scrolls,
- Single and double shields
- Parchment and History sets
- A limited range of surname histories,
stylishly presented on parchment paper
with Celtic illustrations.
