Initial Research Assessment

This is the first stage of commissioning the compilation of a comprehensive Family History Report. Our assessment option involves carry out detailed research of all our genealogical sources for records pertaining to your ancestors.

You will then receive a report outlining the following:

  • The extent of the research carried out on your behalf.
  • Whether records relevant to your ancestry were located.
  • Where records are traced, we will outline the extent of the information available and provide a quotation of further research costs if any.
  • In some cases research may prove extremely difficult and the amount of information found may not be sufficient to compile a Family History Report of the scale we usually produce. In such a case we will provide all the available information with the assessment report
  • In cases where no records are traced, we will offer you suggestions and advice on pursuing other alternatives.

Research Processing Time

Please note that Genealogical research is a time consuming process. From when we receive your completed Research Questionnaire and fee, to the completion of a Family History Report normally takes about eight to twelve weeks.

Seasonal demand can increase this waiting period, so we always recommend initiating your research in good time, well in advance of a planned visit to County Sligo. This is also of importance if the research is being carried out for a special family occasion.
