Family History Report
A Family History Report is an extensive report providing all the genealogical information relating to a family (paternal line only) that we can find in the main genealogical sources, as well as a variety of lesser-known sources. Our Family History Reports are presented in attractive hard bound volumes and will be valued by many generation of your Family as their permanent record of their Sligo ancestors.
Our findings will usually include details of:-
- Church records of baptisms and marriages.
- Civil (State) records of births, marriages and deaths (where available).
- Land records.
- 1901 Census.
- 1911 Census.
- Graveyard inscriptions.
- Maps of the area.
- Details on the parish of your ancestors
- Copies of relevant genealogical documents
- Digital Copies or scans of Family photographs can also be included within the body of the document, if supplied by the client.

How to commission a Family History Report
As mentioned earlier, an initial assessment of your information is the first stage in the process of producing a Family History Report. Each and every report compiled by our research department is individually researched and can only be costed after an initial assessment. The fee charged for the assessment covers the time involved in locating information on your ancestors in the available Co. Sligo sources and no details are provided at this stage, until the quoted final fee is received. The assessment just gives a view to what is available, no further information is provided.

On receipt of your completed Application Form (Research Questionnaire) and initial assessment fee, we will carry out a search of all the relevant records. We will then send you a report on our progress outlining the research we have carried out on your behalf and indicating the sources your ancestors are recorded in. At this stage we will be in a position to quote you a final fee for a Comprehensive Family History Report. The assessment fee is deducted from the full report fee. When our research proves successful a typical figure for total fees for a Family History Report is €250 -€350 ( For 3 copies ).
In some cases research may prove extremely difficult and the amount of information found may not be sufficient to compile a Family History Report of the scale and standard we usually produce. In such a case we will provide all the available information with the assessment report.
The amount of information we can find will vary greatly depending on the date of the enquiry, the parish, and of course the information you can provide for us.
An average report will take up to two days to research and two to three days to prepare, assimilate and compile.
Research Processing Time
Please note that Genealogical research is a time consuming process. From when we receive your completed Research Questionnaire and fee, to the completion of a Family History Report normally takes about eight to twelve weeks.
Seasonal demand can increase this waiting period, so we always recommend initiating your research in good time, well in advance of a planned visit to County Sligo. This is also of importance if the research is being carried out for a special family occasion.
