What is a Clan?
A clan is the Irish/Gaelic name for family and in its broadest
sense is a collection of people who claim descent from a specific
surname. If you are interested in forming your own clan or
in becoming a member of an existing Clan, please contact
The
Clans of Ireland, the organisation officially responsible
for the formation of Irish Clans.
Clan Rallies/Gatherings
Sligo Heritage and Genealogy Centre are now planning to organise
what have become
very popular events called Clan Rallies. These Clan gatherings
involve social outings, cultural tours to historical sites,
lectures and ancestral trails. Clan members who wish to contact
other clan members may also make personal contact with each
other through our
message
board. If there is sufficient interest, County Sligo
Heritage and Genealogy Centre will facilitate a Clan gathering
in Sligo on your behalf.
