The County Sligo Heritage and Genealogy Society was founded in 1985. It is a company Limited by guarantee and registered in Ireland under the Companies Acts 1963-1990, (Ref. No. 153414) and is community owned.

There are eleven members on the Board of Directors of County Sligo Heritage and Genealogy Society.

The Society relies on revenues accrued from research fees, which defray the costs of staffing and maintaining a comprehensive genealogical service for people tracing their County Sligo ancestry.
